Policies and Procedures

We strive to provide our guests with an exceptionally clean, safe, and friendly guest experience. The following Commodore Inn Policies (“Inn Policies”) have been established based on industry standards, management and operational procedures, and our personal experience of owning and operating The Commodore Inn. The Commodore Inn Policies are considered a part of our reservation agreement with you. As a guest of The Commodore Inn, by reading and signing your hotel registration you are agreeing to abide by all Inn Policies, terms and conditions, and procedures. Inn Policies are presented here to help promote guest safety and enjoyment and to ensure that each guest is aware of the understandings between The Commodore Inn and the guest. The Commodore Inn Policies are subject to change.

The Commodore Inn is a 100% Smoke-Free facility. For safety and to assure that our facility is not exposed to items or actions that create an odor which is unhealthy and objectionable to our guests and staff, and that is difficult to remove from the air, walls, and furniture, we do not permit smoking tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, e-cigarettes, vape pens, vaping, cartridges containing the liquid of nicotine, hookahs, incense, cigars, candle burning, the use or diffusing of patchouli oil or other strong-smelling plant-based essential oils or synthetic products in our facility.

Guests are encouraged to notify Front Desk staff immediately if they smell cigarette, marijuana, or other objectionable odors. This policy is not intended to stop people from smoking, but to regulate where they smoke and how it affects others. A Designated Smoking Area is provided outside and away from the building. Marijuana is prohibited at all times.

Although recreational marijuana use is legal in the State of Massachusetts, The Commodore Inn is private property, and, as such, we have developed and enforce the following policy: A violation of our 100% Smoke Free policy which includes prohibition of the use of Marijuana, will result in a fine that will be added to the guest’s bill. A second violation of our 100% Smoke Free policy will result in the guest being evicted without refund.

Candle, incense, essential oils (diffusing, vaporizing, etc.) are prohibited. These items and activities will be treated as smoking, a fine assessed, and the guest may be evicted with no refunds.

All reservations must be guaranteed with a valid, major credit card. Guests must be 21 years or older to reserve a room. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. At the time of booking your reservation, your credit card will be charged 50% of your entire stay. The remainder of your stay is due upon check in. A confirmation of your deposit will be emailed to you immediately following your booked reservation.

Check-in time begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. Please contact Front Desk staff if you expect to arrive after 8:00 p.m. to make alternate arrangements.

Guests must be at least 21 years of age to check in at The Commodore Inn. In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, guests are required to confirm their identity by providing their valid government issued photo identification (State driver’s license, passport, etc.) at check-in. A valid, signed, and pre-approved credit card in the name of the registered guest is also required. It is your responsibility to fully understand the way your bank processes pre-authorizations and charges to your credit/debit card. Some banks hold pending authorizations for up to 30 business days.

We require valid contact information from the guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, email and signature. The names of all guests occupying the room must be registered per the Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR).

Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Please check-out at the with Front Desk and drop off your key so that housekeeping may begin cleaning your room as soon as possible. If you require a later check-out, please contact Front Desk staff prior to the day of your departure, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. A charge will apply for late check-out if this has not been pre-arranged with Management.

We will make every effort to honor special requests such as a specific wing, room number or adjoining rooms upon your arrival. All special requests are noted on reservations, and we will do our best to accommodate. However, the availability of these items cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Two handicapped accessible guest rooms are available and should be reserved in advance; please contact The Commodore Inn directly 508-432-1180.

All reservations and registration must be guaranteed with a valid, major credit card. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card. Pursuant to credit card agreements, credit cards are not valid unless signed by the cardholder. Credit cards must be signed. Cash (USD) payment is welcomed with a valid credit card on file for security and incidentals. All guests are required to present a valid, major credit card and government issued photo identification even if guests are planning on paying in cash upon check-out. Checks and foreign currency are not accepted.

The Commodore Inn neither accepts checks nor provides check cashing services.

There is a 50% deposit required to secure each individual room reservation. A major credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee the room and secure the reservation.

Generally, third party payment is not permitted. In the case of paying for a family member if you will not be physically present at the hotel, we require prior completion and approval of a Credit Card Authorization form including a copy of your driver’s license and the front and back of your signed credit card. You will be responsible for any and all damages and loss caused by the party you have guaranteed during the stay you guaranteed at The Commodore Inn. We reserve the right to refuse a reservation at any time for any reason.

Connecting rooms are subject to availability. Please call The Commodore Inn directly to discuss availability of connecting rooms.

We do not offer discounted room rates except to active military persons who present a valid military I.D. This discount of 10% off standard room rates is only available to guests who book their reservation by calling The Commodore Inn directly.

All rates are quoted in United States currency, exclusive of state and local taxes. Rates as advertised on The Commodore Inn website or any other website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at the hotel’s discretion. Rates are quoted as Queen Rroom (1-4 occupancy), Queen Room with Cathedral Ceiling (1-4 occupancy) King Rroom with Fireplace and Jetted Tub (1-2 occupancy), King Handicap Accessible (1-2 occupancy), and are subject to availability.

Pets are not allowed on the premises. With appropriate documentation, service animals (this does not include emotional support animals) are welcome to accompany their owners at The Commodore Inn.

The Commodore Inn is privately owned and operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason(s) that does not violate Federal or State laws. The Commodore Inn will refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in our hotel to a person or may remove a person, without refund, who refuses to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by the State of Massachusetts and the owners and management of for the operation and management of The Commodore Inn.

The Commodore Inn will refuse service or evict a guest: who fails to pay for accommodations; is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substance and acts in a disorderly fashion as to disturb the peace of other guests; is not in compliance with state liquor law; is unable to properly supervise their children at all times; seeks to use the hotel for an unlawful purpose; seeks to brings additional cooking devices or heat sources into the hotel; brings an unlawfully possessed firearm, or something, any including an explosive, or hazardous or toxic substance that is unlawful to possess and that may be dangerous to other persons; destroys, damages, defaces, or threatens harm to The Commodore Inn property, staff or guests; and/or causes or permits persons to exceed the maximum allowable occupancy of room.

The Commodore Inn is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes that may affect your vacation plans. A refund of 90% of your deposit will be issued for reservations cancelled 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. Cancellation of a reservation less than 2 weeks prior to your arrival date will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

Children of all ages are welcome at The Commodore Inn. Parents, guardians, or chaperones are personally and legally responsible for children under their care and must supervise them at all times. For safety reasons, please do not ever leave children unattended in guest rooms or allow them to roam the hotel property unsupervised. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the swimming pool area unless accompanied and supervised by their parent/guardian/chaperone.

Room occupancy requirements are based on fire code/fire safety restrictions. Queen Room maximum occupancy is 4. King Room maximum occupancy is 2. If you exceed the maximum number of guests allowed, you will be asked to rent another guest room for proper accommodations or vacate the hotel.

The Commodore Inn complies with all rules and regulations set forth by local and state authorities that govern the issuance of our Liquor License. The Alcohol Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) states that no one can carry onto the premises their own beer, wine or alcoholic beverages for their own private consumption (so called BYOB or Brown Bagging). Registered guests 21 years of age or older (valid photo identification required) are permitted to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages sold by Management and staff of The Commodore Inn. Beverages purchased from The Commodore Inn may be brought into public areas on the grounds of The Commodore Inn, but may not be taken off of The Commodore Inn property. Alcohol consumed during special events served by The Commodore Inn or an outside licensed caterer with permit to serve/sell alcohol is restricted to those 21 years old or older (valid photo identification required) and can only be consumed at the event venue.

Our Continental Breakfast is free to registered guests only, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Coffee is available in the lobby beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Housekeeping is provided daily between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. This is a 100% NON-SMOKING hotel, including medical marijuana. Rooms are cleaned and inspected daily, and a detailed log is maintained on each room. Rooms are rented to guests in appropriate condition without any prohibited odor. Housekeeping and Front Desk staff are trained and skilled in identifying the odors from prohibited items. If our investigation concludes that you have smoked in your room, cooked in your room, or brought a prohibited item into our facility, you will be fined, and asked to leave the premises without refund.

DO NOT DISTURB signs are provided in each guest room. These signs are for your use to request that you not be disturbed at any point when they are hung on the external door knob to the courtyard. These are for your convenience. Please be aware that housekeeping staff begins cleaning rooms at 9:30 a.m. and leaves the property at 2:30 p.m. If the DO NOT DISTURB sign is displayed on your door when Housekeeping comes to your guest room, they will continue with their daily assignments and check back once before the end of their day. If Housekeeping is unable to clean your room during these hours due to the use of your DO NOT DISTURB sign, fresh linens will be left in a plastic bag outside your door.

Housekeeping Staff may enter each room daily at subsequent times to clean the room, check for safety and verify the condition of the room. Management reserves the right to enter a room at any time (including when the guest has opted to display the DO NOT DISTURB sign) for reasonable purposes, such as an emergency, housekeeping, maintenance, or to verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of Inn Policies. In the event of suspected illegal activity, management reserves the right to summon law enforcement to aid in eviction. The right to privacy ends when a policy of The Commodore Inn is broken. Law enforcement will be granted immediate access to hotel property and rooms of evicted guests.

For conservation of water, gently used towels may be left on towel bars for reuse the next day. Used towels which are soiled or need to be changed should be left on the floor in the bathroom and will be exchanged for fresh towels. Housekeeping will be happy to make your beds each day if all personal items are removed from the bed. If Housekeeping is unable to change a bed due to personal items left on a bed, a note will be left. Please contact our Front Desk staff with questions or concerns.

The safety of our guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us. Except for the microwave and refrigerator units that The Commodore Inn provides in each guest room, preparation of food in guest rooms by any other type of cooking appliances (including but not limited to coffee makers, hot plates, toaster ovens, water heaters, rice cookers, combustible, open flame, any burners, heating appliance, or any other item intended for cooking) is prohibited. Additionally, open fires and flames are not allowed anywhere on The Commodore Inn property.

Mass General Laws C148 § 39 states that “No person shall sell, or keep or offer for sale, or have in his possession, or under his control, or use, or explode, or cause to explode, any combustible or explosive composition or substance, or any combination of such compositions or substances, or any other article, which was prepared for the purpose of producing a visible or audible effect by combustion, explosion, deflagration, or detonation…. Whoever shall have in his possession or under his control, or whoever shall use or explode or cause to explode any fireworks in violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars. Any officer qualified to serve criminal process shall seize all of the fireworks mentioned herein without a warrant, and the fireworks seized shall, upon conviction of such violation, be forfeited to the commonwealth.”

The Commodore Inn recognizes that guests and vendors may legally possess firearms or weapons for a variety of legitimate purposes. However, The Commodore Inn is private property, and it is our policy that no firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted on the premises at any time for any reason. It is our policy to promptly turn over any firearms found on the property to the Harwich Police Department.

Bicycles, hover boards, and roller blades are not permitted in guest rooms. Please ask Front Desk staff how and where you may store these items. If these items are stored on the property, The Commodore Inn assumes no liability for theft, loss, and/or damage.

Room keys are issued to the registered guest(s). No room keys will be issued to persons under 18 at any time. I.D. is required if you have lost your key and require a duplicate. Please return room keys to Front Desk at Check-out.

Please notify Front Desk in the event of a fire or other emergency. A map that shows emergency exits can be found in the Guest Room Information Notebook located in each guest room.

The hotel is fully equipped with smoke detectors. Fire safety information is included in the Guest Room Information Book. Please review this important information.

No parties, loud disturbances and/or noise-nuisances are permitted on The Commodore Inn premises. In the event of a disturbance, one polite request (warning) will be given to reduce the noise. If the guest(s) fails to comply with our request, the guest will be asked to leave the hotel without refund. The registered guest(s) is responsible for all persons visiting them or other persons staying in rooms paid for by the registered guest. Non-Registered visitors are permitted until 10:00 P.M.

Visitors must be accompanied by the registered guest at all times. Visitors are not permitted to use guest amenities including the pool and the complimentary continental breakfast. As a registered guest, you are responsible for your visitor at all times.

Access to our WiFi is free for our registered guests. The hotel WiFi access code is subject to change without notice. The Commodore Inn assumes no liability for guest use of complimentary WiFi.

Parking for registered guest(s) is free. All vehicles are parked at the risk of the owner. The Commodore Inn shall not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle, occupants, or contents of the vehicle while operated or parked on the hotel property. If a vehicle is left in the hotel parking lot, without the written consent of the hotel, after the guest has departed the hotel reserves the right to have the vehicle towed at the owner’s expense. No vehicle repairs may be performed on the hotel premises.

The Commodore Inn assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, stolen, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call us immediately 508-432-1180, and we will try to assist you in locating your lost item.

The Commodore Inn is not responsible for any item left behind by a guest. However, any item, with the exception of perishable items, left behind by our guests and found after departure will be collected and kept in a secure location for collection by the owner for up to fourteen (14) days. Reasonable effort will be made to notify the guest that an item has found. Perishable items, underwear, and miscellaneous toiletries will be discarded.

We are happy to return your lost item(s) to you by the delivery method of your choice. Your credit card will be charged packaging and postage. A separate receipt will be mailed to you. The Commodore Inn is not responsible for any item lost or misdirected during shipment by the delivery service you have chosen.

Lost & Found items are held for fourteen (14) days while we attempt to contact the guest. The Commodore Inn is not liable if the contact information on file is incorrect or the guest cannot be contacted using contact information in our system during the fourteen (14) day holding period. On the 15th day, the unclaimed item(s) is thrown away, given to local organizations, or disposed of accordingly by The Commodore Inn.

If you bring any infestation into your room or onto our hotel premises, The Commodore Inn may charge you for all costs and expenses, including, but not limited to, loss of room revenue and/or the cost of immediate or urgent response requirements deemed necessary at the sole discretion of management of The Commodore Inn to address the infestation.

The registered guest is liable for any damage, howsoever caused (whether by deliberate, negligent, or reckless act or by accident), to the room(s) and its contents, hotel’s premises or property caused by you or any person in your party or visiting your party during your stay. The Commodore Inn reserves the right to charge the credit/debit card provided at check-in for any damage incurred to your room or hotel property during your stay such amounts as it shall in its sole discretion deems necessary to compensate or make good the cost or expenses incurred or suffered by The Commodore Inn as a result of the aforesaid. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge the credit/debit card provided at check-in for any damage incurred to your room or the hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation to all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc. We will make every effort to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting a specialist to make the repairs, and therefore will make every effort to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum.

The Commodore Inn reserves the right to take action against any guest or visitor found to have tampered or interfered with any detection equipment throughout the hotel, including detector heads in public areas, guest rooms, and fire extinguishers. Guests or visitors found to have tampered with any fire detection or fire-fighting equipment will be charged with any costs incurred by the hotel due to their actions and will be evicted from the hotel. Depending on the severity of the guest’s actions, law enforcement may become involved at the hotel’s discretion. Should the fact that fire-fighting or detection equipment had been tampered with come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right and you hereby authorize us to charge the credit/debit card provided at check-in for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel property during your stay, including and without limitation to all property damage, missing or damaged items, smoking fee, cleaning fee, guest compensation, etc.

The Commodore Inn reserves the right to refuse accommodations to a guest arriving with a contagious disease. In cases where sickness occurs during the stay, please notify Front Desk staff. In the case of serious sickness, you may be requested to receive appropriate health care from a nearby healthcare facility. During epidemics, The Commodore Inn is entitled to employ precautionary measures within our judgment or as required by local authorities. We may charge you a room cleaning fee as we deem appropriate under the circumstances.

Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. If you become aware of a disruptive guest, please contact Front Desk staff immediately. Televisions, voices, or other devices must be kept at a respectful, low level at all times. Doors should be opened and closed quietly. Congregating or running outside guest rooms during quiet hours is prohibited.

Our heated pool is open daily starting Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. until Dusk. The pool is for use by registered guests only. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the pool area. Children not toilet trained must wear protective rubber pants or “swim diapers” when using the pool. All guests are asked to follow the posted rules. Glass bottles or glass of any kind are NOT permitted in the pool area per Harwich Board of Health and State Regulations. WARNING: NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY

The Commodore Inn reserves the right to amend, modify, change, cancel, vary or add to The Commodore Inn Policies or the arrangements and content featured on our Hotel website at any time without prior notice. Changes to policies made during your stay will be communicated to you via email or notices left in your guest room. Any modification to The Commodore Inn Policies that occurs before your departure is considered a part of your reservation agreement with us. A copy of The Commodore Inn Policies is located on our website and is available from Front Desk staff upon request.

All staff is trained and required to respond to potential violations of The Commodore Inn Policies. Guests who refuse to abide by the reasonable standards and policies established by The Commodore Inn for the safety of all guests, staff, owners, property, and the operation and management of the hotel will be evicted, with no refund.

The Commodore Inn makes its best efforts to ensure that all the information that appears on its website is accurate. However, no warranty, expressed or implied, is given that the information provided on this website is error free. The Commodore Inn does not accept liability for any errors and/or omissions and reserves the right to change the information published at any time and without notice.
