No one would have imagined that a 4th of July BBQ conversation amongst next door neighbors – about dreams for retirement years and an opportunity on a charming local inn – would one year later result in an absolute dream come true…
About the Owners
Dan and Kelley McNamara have lived all over the country over the past 30 years, but one thing never changed: summertime meant Cape Cod. Originally from northern New Jersey and now residing in San Antonio, Texas, the couple still remembers the Cape fondly as the place their love story began.
It is only fitting, then, that they recently took the plunge by purchasing the legendary Commodore Inn on Cape Cod. Though much of their lives keeps them planted in San Antonio – along with their two kids, four dogs, and three cats – if you visit the Inn in the summertime, chances are you’ll see Dan and Kelley washing linens, stocking the kitchen, or welcoming guests.
About the Innkeepers
Married 31 years, John and Barbara-Anne Foley have been year-round residents of the Town of Harwich since 1987 and planted roots here for their sons, Patrick and Kyle. Their beautiful Golden Retriever, Faith, is very much enjoying her new life as a beach dog and mascot of the Inn.
John has had a long career in the building trades. He has worked as a carpenter on custom homes, as an account manager for a major window and door manufacturer and has done everything in between. He has always had a hands-on approach. Additionally, John continues to serve as a Deacon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church just up the street from the Inn.
Barbara-Anne retired as the Executive Director of the Harwich Council on Aging after 18 years and has spent her career in customer service and interacting with families and multiple generations.
The Foley’s dream has been to work together and share their love of Harwich and the Cape with the guests of The Commodore Inn. After mass each week, John and Barbara-Anne would take a walk to Earle Road Beach, and as they passed by the Inn they would say, “Wouldn’t it be awesome to run that inn someday.” Becoming the Innkeepers of The Commodore Inn is truly a dream come true.
